Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group

I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

When I'm feeling sorry for myself I am going to try to remind myself to think this way:

"Write your hurts in the sand, and carve your blessings in stone."

We can't help but focus on our hurts because they are so large and deep, but sometimes remembering all the good that we have in our lives will be a way to refocus and feel better.

I really like that saying! And when I think about it, my blessings have always outweighed the hurts. Just having good health is a huge one -- and a good mind. If I find myself falling into the "poor me's" all I have to do is look around and see a whole lot of folks who are in a lot worse shape than I am. That's usually enough to snap me out of it!

gratitude And asset list, read my three
daily Readers, meditate, journal and pray
For Gods will. Never mind do fun and
Healthy things and Lots of loving self
care to nurture me.

I try, i am still in my misery so everything
is a daily struggle.

Be thankful for what you complain about

Although not always practical or correct
It does make one see that a lot of things are such

Fir instance my knuckle headed teenager has a messy room
I just close the door and am thankful he wakes up in his messy room safe and sound in my drab threadbare apartment :-)

That's a great quote! I find trying to focus on gratitude, instead of my worries and disappointments, really helps me get through things with less pain and more grace.

That's a wonderful quote! Thank you for sharing. CowgirlKathi - you're absolutely right. Enjoying good health mentally and physically is a real blessing that we often take for granted. We've all suffered a lot of hurt, but focusing on the blessings is the key to happiness, I think. Good reminder, thanks cmonge!

Love that cmonge. I'm adding that to my inspirations book. I also find that it helps to focus on my blessings when life gets a bit grim.
