Last year on the 4th of July, my husband, kids and I went to my parents house for a bbq and then to the park to watch the fireworks. We do that every year. This year we are doing it again minus the husband (who by the way is on a trip to San Diego with his whore!) Anyway, I am almost done with my year of "first time holidays without hIm" Thank God! I did some things a little differently but for the majority of the holidays I stuck with the same traditions and routines as before for the sake of the children. It's been almost a year now and I'm wondering if I should keep doing that or make our own traditions now.

I'm ready to do things different than we did before, but I worry that the kids will find it disturbing.

One of the biggest thing i want to do is take the kids to Disneyland or go on a cruise for Christmas instead of the traditional Christmas at home. The thing is, my stbx is a Christmas freak!! He does the MAJOR decorating in the yard and there are a thousand and one little things that we always do the same way from what decoration goes up first to who sits where at the dinner table. Our house has always been where our other family come to and it's a big big deal. But that was more his thing. I love Christmas but I don't necessarily want to do things like that anymore. He's kind of ruined everything for me, jerk! Anyway, I think it would be neat to go away somewhere and do something totally different and maybe start a new tradition. That is assuming he allows me to take them, which is doubtful but.... Do you guys think it's too early for that still or do you think it would be okay. Please share your thoughts!
