Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group

I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

My husband and I will be sitting down tomorrow evening to discuss our divorce settlement.

I'm going to make him meet me my favorite restaurant so we are forced to remain calm and collective while discussing spousal support. I don't want this turning into a nasty argument - plus he can buy me one last nice dinner before we're done.

Good luck Chrissy. Remember that you don't have to do this just between yourselves. there are mediators if you get stalled. I will be thinking of you and hoping you advocate well for yourself! Keep us filled in!

Equal and equitable!!!! Tell him nothing is binding until you review with an attorney. Don't bring any poison with you! Go in looking like a million bucks. Have a hot new outfit too. Keep us posted.

Just remember equal is not equitable. If he makes more money than you then he should pay more. It can't be a 50/50 split when he makes more than you.

thanks everybody. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm not looking forward to the battle - hopefully it won't be too bad.

Just so you all know I do have councel - I'm pretty sure I've got everything covered. It's just getting him to agree to it.

If anything I'll get an awesome steak dinner out of it. :)
