Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
She's also the mother of her affair, and her choice to divorce.
I'll feel for my kids that day, they know that it was mommies choice to take down the nest.
I imagine that they'll have some conflicting emotions.
I used to think it would be a bittersweet day for her as well.
But, reptiles fake emotion, she may have tears but they'll be part of the act.
As in my married life I've always lived some distance from my mom, this will the first Mother's Day that I actually get to give her a hug in person in almost 2 decades.
A hug and a card won't come close to expressing how much I treasure her .
I was blessed to have a woman of intellect & strength, that tabled a lot of that to make the family work, fortunately my daddy knew she was the best thing that ever happened to him so he tAbled things as well to make the family work
And now, well she's still minding my booboos .
My ex has always said that I'm not his mother so he didn't have to buy me cards or gifts. Needless to say, I don't have to go through the yearly mystery of why couldn't I be appreciated as the mother of his children. One of the red flags I allowed to flutter unnoticed.
I always bought the cards and gifts for his mother, and I continue doing that to this day as I am on good terms with his mum (even though it's a bit hard these days because she has dementia).
Chin up. It's one of the many changes you will learn to deal with, but one thing won't ever change. You'll always be your kids' mum.
love and hugs
