Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group

I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

What a night. I have found myself suffering from bit of insomnia lately. I go to bed and read til i'm dropping the book. Figure I can sleep then right? Nope. I turn light out and snuggle down. Then boom! Eyes wide awake. SO I read some more. Eventually it's 2-3 am. Getting up 4 hrs later.

So last night I did the letter someone suggested in another post. I wrote him a thank you letter. For getting me back to a better me. For my awesome sons. After that I couldn't think of anything else to thank him for. I just laid there and shed a few tears. Not sure why. But just a few.

Its amazing how strong one can feel and b having an awesome day and one quiet lonesome unguarded moment can upset the whole cart.

Those tears are part of the process. When they come, LET them flow! It is the way for your soul to grieve...and then you can get back to the business of looking forward and really LIVING again! Hugs to you, my friend.

I was like that for a year and a half solid and it was awful! After that it was less an less till the final divorce and i have felt great ever since and you will to. It is a long hard process but i promise you will get there!

I'm 3 1/2 years post-divorce, 4 1/2 post separation and I still do this sometimes, but not very often. It does get better, and it's definitely best to let it happen. Grieving is normal and part of healing. The more you just let it happen, the quicker it will go.

I had a dream that my ex was cheating in front of my eyes last night. I wanted to beat him half to death but you know what it's like in dreams when you can't actually make contact? Yep, I was saved from a prison sentence. That's how I feel. I have been freed from a prison sentence! Yay!!!

I like the idea of writing letters to our exes, telling them our grievances or thanking them for the good parts of our relationships. It looks like it allowed you to release some more of your sadness and that's a good thing. Hope you sleep better tonight.

J thank you all for your input. The last 3yrs have been so overwhelming. Just looking forward to June to get it over. Actually probably longer. Just didn't realize I had shut down my feelings for him. My head knew before my heart did. Or vice versa.
