Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

so i'm alone in a crowd
New year's eve , good riddance to 2013, I expect more heartacheing blows to come but after taking what i've taken, i can take plenty more
anyway.... at first I was to be alone tonite, I was going to netflix it for a bit, find odd movie, read, stay away fronm looking back and looking ahead, I've given up trying to understand stbx, I'm at the point where...I understand that it was not me, I wasn't a big turd, I wasn't an a-hole, should i continue to grow as a person---yes, do i need to be a differnt person --- no,
when I actually get some alone time, i'm going to write down all the things that validate me, all in all i am okay with being alone with myself, as for the memeories and what ifs I'm letting the memorires go and I'm done asking what if, gonna take time to heal and then get back to living and asking a really good question,
what's next,
take care & Happy new year, & really a lot of better tommorrows
With the passing of time maybe you will learn to love the times you get to be alone :) I do !
I'm sorry you are feeling so lonely Golden. It will get better in time. Hugs and blessings for the New Year.
Sending healing hugs!!
Since the divorce, I've spent every NYE alone for 5 years. I usually treat it as a normal day but will turn on the tele and catch some of the entertainment and maybe some early fireworks. This year , I visited an elderly friend in a home, did some last-minute grocery shopping, and I actually made it to midnight!!!! It was a bit of an anti-climax and next year, I'll probably go back to going to bed when I get tired:)
I get together with my kids or my family on NY Day, and this year I only had my second daughter and her family, but with 3 little boys, there wasn't a dull moment!!
I'm glad you'll have some 14yo boys to keep you company. I remember when my son was in his teens, some of his friends were pretty good cooks and I enjoyed some yummy brekkies the morning after their sleepovers. Maybe you were fortunate enough to find you had a gourmet brekky today?
Happy New Year. I hope you have a peaceful one full of good things.
love and hugs

Last night was no different, except my daughter had her boyfriend over and I went up to my room, so I wouldn't be just hanging around on them. Watched a movie and fell asleep.
I'm ok with that - and you will be too. Happy New Year - you will be OK. It just takes time.
Granted, the first set of holidays post-breakup are tough -- but it's only ONE DAY. My first Christmas alone (2005) was pretty awful. I remember going to 11:00 p.m. church and crying my eyes out. The next year was sooo different -- I was by myself, but so very PEACEFUL I will always remember it as one of my favorite years.
This year, I am single again (following a 5-1/2 year post-divorce relationship) and living 1,100 miles from the place I called home for most of my life. Sunny and 80 degrees sure makes up for the lack of family and old friends at the holidays, I must admit.
One day at a time. One holiday at a time. This all gets better with time, but there is no set "schedule" for forward progress. BE GENTLE WITH YOURSELF! That's the best advice I can give. xoxo
