Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

I would sit and dream about my former husband being hit by a bus, or coming down with the bubonic plague.
Now fours year later I realize that Karma comes in small ways. He lives in a basement apartment, I have the house. I have money left at the end of the month, he is in debt. I take the kids on vacation, and he can barely afford to take them to a movie.
He left for greener pastures, and as far as I can see hasn't really found them.
I am happy now being just a family of three. I know he isn't happy.
So yes Karma bites back but differently from what we want at the beginning.
Go to any children's hospital, find the karma in a kid on chemo
Focus on you doing the right things, good things, and remember there are no guarantees if justice in this world
I don't think of karma as a supernatural thing or one that comes anywhere close to happening according to our time tables but I do believe that you generally get back what you put out there.
That said, karma is not worth waiting on. The best "revenge" or "karma" after a divorce is getting out there and leading an authentic, happy life. I wouldn't give up any more real estate in your brain wishing for Karma to serve up some justice.
Just my two cents

It is when an adult makes decisions that are counter to moral law that Karma is invoked. You know the old saying "What Goes Around Comes Around?" That's what I'm talking about. When the X decided ON HIS OWN that he was done with our marriage, he broke Karmic law by violating the sacred vows of our marriage and my violating my trust. The Bible passage "Revenge is mine" sayeth the Lord is what freed me from all sorts of negative thinking about what might befall him post-divorce.
I have worked hard and done my best to make lemons out of the lemonade and my New Life has been fuller, richer and more satisfying than that old one ever was -- even on its best day. Positive energy begets positive energy. That's the bottom line whether you believe in Karma or not.
You remember the button? Sh&t happens! Seems the most logical to me.
All sorts of truths to consider. You reap what you sow. You get back what you put out. Everyone has their own free will. We can't control others. The list goes on and on. Which set of facts serves us at the time is what we choose as gospel and even the gospel will change. The closest I'll come to acknowledging karma is merely a play on words. I think things happen because of a reason. The reason may not even involve us but a reason nonetheless was the governing factor. I don't buy into things happen FOR a reason. To a degree, he is the potter and we the clay but puppet strings attached? Naw.
The cold hearted can go through all sorts of scenarios without getting hurt. What we may think may upset their world has virtually little or no impact on them since they are working from such a different perspective. Unless or until something 'breaks' them, they'll feel no remorse. They're headstrong to make dang sure they don't end up looking like a fool. Trading in what they thought was a miserable life for one which really taught them what misery is. How many will eat crow and acknowledge it or even let it show for a even second? Saving face in their disgrace is paramount and they'll pull out all the stops to not only fool others but to fool themselves as well.
Even those children in hospital dealing with chemo...to say this is a karmic debt is ridiculous...however...talk with those children...watch them deal with the worst of lifes challenges...even during their worst day...they share love, light and wisdom that many of us can only hope to achieve...I have personally witnessed this. Karma in its purest form.
Whether you believe in Karma or not...chances you do only its described differently depending on your religion. Since we are talking about Karma in reflection to our ex's...I have seen it in living color...it just took a bit of time..Big Hugs...Kathy
I have never wished evil or physical hurt on my exass. Only that he go through a portion of the pain he inflicted on his now ex family. At the time it just seemed like we were only ones hurting.
Yes, he lied, cheated over and over. I can only hope that that will be the same thing that happens to him. Exactly said all, what goes around comes around.
Do I sit around waiting? Nope. I will no doubt hear about it when it happens. Then that will make me smile. But I don't obsess for the day it will happen. I love my life with the family I have. They keep me in the moment. I do my best not to dwell on the past.
Does it happen? Of course, it does. I am still a newbie (2 years post in june) and have those reflective moments. Yet, I pull myself up and think of what I have and what he's missing. Man, I have so much more!
