Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
It is not just divorce breakup people, the bills are here, the taxes, it is winter in a good part of the country. Dec and Jan are big for therapy.. and divorce!
MsTerey, you are right...there seems to be much on everyone's plate right now and I don't know about everyone else, but I am feeling more than overwhelmed!!!
Maybe we can find another planet that supports life (barely) and start separating out the "jerks" from the rest of us who play nice and by the rules, who say what we mean, and mean what we say? Who find lying and cheating despicable, who take/took our vows seriously then, now and forever? Send the 'other life forms' like the ah-hem 'jerks' x's stbx's, ow, om and all the rest of the scum far, far away - where the only thing we get from them is financial or positive parental support. No more head games, negative twisted behaviors, nasty emails, scary phone calls, horrible court appearances, knocks on the door, yelling, shouting, threatening behavior of any sort, hurtful behavior toward us or our children, or any loved ones, - or any of this crap that these mean, selfish, egocentric minds can think of!
Sure, these stressful economic times make everyone on edge and feel out of sorts; it also tends to bring out the true nature of a human being's personality. Add in the cold, dark weather some of you have, the pressure of bills, job losses, or potential job losses and divorce looming and it's enough to make anyone crack - but it's how you handle yourself under the most extreme pressure that shows your maturity, your grace under pressure, your confidence in your self, and your ability to be flexible. To admit you need help from others instead of blaming others is a sign of courage and strength - or so I am told repeatedly!
LOL
I see much courage, strength, and a lot of grace under extreme pressure from each member of this group.
