I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

I sang Karaoke and met a man

Tonight I went out with a girlfriend to a local bar. Since I don't drink, I hate going to bars but her daughter was away for the weekend and she just needed to get out.

We went to a local dive that has Karaoke and for the first time ever in my life I sang Karaoke in front of everybody. It was so cool. I sang Trisha Yearwood's "She's in love with the boy" and everybody was rocking with me. They said I did pretty good too. Who knew.

But that's not all - something happened tonight that I was afraid would never happen again. I met a man - don't get too excited because he was married and his wife was there too. But, for the first time since this whole incident happened, I actually saw another man that I found attractive. I have not met very many men in my life that I've been attracted to. Maybe I'm just too picky, but I guess there's just a certain type that I find nice looking. So, this gave me hope for the future.

I found that I'm actually starting to look at men in a different way again. Now I'm not ready by any means to start dating or even think of dating, but I guess the natural woman in me is starting to notice after 23 years of not looking at all.

Who would have guessed that I'd get to this point from 9 months ago - certainly not me. So ladies (and gentlemen) there is hope for us all. I'm not out of the woods yet as I still do love my husband, but at least now I know that maybe someday, when I'm ready, I'll find someone else whom I'm attracted to enough to start a relationship.

Go figure? But you know what, Chrissy, you are a very attractive woman, and I know you will meet men. I am glad you are open to it now!

Good for you! You are getting stronger every day. You'll meet someone when you least expect it. Now that you're noticing men again you're coming back to life.

I'm right there with you Chrissy! I know these are little steps but they seem so huge! I've started looking at myself differently and at men differently. I think I'm picky too. I had a similar Aha! moment too with a man. Not ready to go there yet, but it was like a little message from the Universe to "stay the course".

Way to step out of your comfort zone! What a nice evening!

We must be at the same place. Started noticing, especially since our Cleveland-meetup. I'm happy for us. It's a start. I have just looked on-line but no-one has peeked my interest. I am going to make more of an effort. Some younger guy came up to me to smell the rose Nan had given us, he looked at me and said something but I couldn't completely understand, I didn't care. It helped my self-esteem. Men are probably noticing we are just not aware of it. Like Zen11 said, we need to stay the course. I like that.

It's fun to notice. I actually met a man (had sworn off men for at least of year after moving out of the home) 3 days after I moved out of the home (had been "separated" living in the home for a year that stbx was looking elsewhere and who knows what else)...he literally came knocking on my door. Don't laugh, he's the cable man. He came to hook up the cable and work on my computer, unfortunately? had to come back 2 more times but we talked and talked and well, we've been seeing each other ever since. I don't know where it will go, but it's nice to have someone looking my way too and just have some fun! CHEERS, to all of us beautiful women!!! It happens when we least expect it.

You know the header of the post could be a country tune.. I Sang Karoke and met a man...

During the Harley fest here, and I do not do the motorcycle thing but this the home of Harley D, Dierks Bentley played for free on a huge stage in our park. My girlfriend, my 72 year old gentleman that takes me out and me went to a local bar after with the Karoke. My gf was all excited, she has a good voice. She was sure she would meet the man of her dreams, in bike leather. She thinks I am good luck when we are together... We got drinks, sat down and after awhile shes says, I do not believe it, 700,000 bikers in town and we go to the only bar with lesbian karoke bikers! AND it was... we almost died laughing. I said it was a message for us!

I have a thing for someone, waiting to see where it goes. I have a to make sure the professional realtionship is over. I have had a few offers, I met a few guys and then I stupidly gave them my phone numbers. I just was not ready and I told them so...

If karaoke is what it takes to meet a man, point me in the direction of the nearest karaoke bar!!

Isn't it great when the woman in you finally wakes up from the long sleep?
