Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
I also signed up for meetups where they do stuff
Together, Have not gone yet.
The last thing i want is a dating site or a man date
So not ready. I like girl dates or maybe group activities.
It is a process, happiness comes from within, i am still
Working on that one. I am still detaching and healing
From my ex. Did you grieve at all? That helped me a
great Deal.

My social outlets are my church related volunteer groups, pastoral ministry for my local parish, an intentional community that works on social issues and homeless youth, and a larger church reform/renewal group. They keep me from being a shut in, from getting too lonely, but as I'm working with married couples or women, not a source of socializing or dating options.
That's OK for now, but I don't how I would ever meet single men if I ever get to that place of healing.
Although I like an occasional cocktail, I'm not going to be searching for dates in bars, having had an alcoholic husband already. Everything I've read here, with a very few exceptions, is that dating sites are a great way to hook up with dirty old men, oh, my wasband was a porn and sex addict too.... yuck.
Almost hoping I die before I want a man in my life again. Would keep things a lot simpler and calmer. LOL. Anyway, hoping you find something you can do to make the world better for others. I find that's what really helps me feel better about my life and myself. Take care.
other activities. I can stay as busy as I want to. I have met quite a few people that I can call friends and go places with. I am a bit of a loner, I like staying home and reading a bit. I do belong to a monthly book
club. We have free movies and dancing on the weekends, which I have not been to. I really am not nearly ready for a male relationship, although a lot of women in here are dating. I like myself and have some good
friends I can hang with when I want to. Meet ups are a good place to start as is church, I wish you luck. It was
not easy starting over. I cried a lot but made myself get out a little at first.
As a fact 2 occupations who are experts to advise you are: your physical therapist and gym trainer. These people are GOOD at accessing your fitness and suggesting the level of activity and intensity for your needs.
Join a gym to open up your social circle at your new city. The retired matured folks runs the gym during the day hours are doing for example Aqua Zumba before the 5:30pm working bees comes in after a hard day at their job. Just a thought.
They come home and go to their rooms, maybe come out for food or water.
They play competitive sports so we have always been crazy busy.
Now for the first time, I have nothing to do in the evenings. Get home from work at 6:00 and what do I do
I have never been a big TV watcher, and winter has returned so not getting outside much yet.
I go for coffee with friends but everyone has kids and they are busy.
I started a quilt but have lost interest, I crochet (not very well) but how many dish cloths can one person make. I also made hats for our local sick kids hospital but after almost 200 I got tired of it
If I was married at least I would have someone to talk too. Now I guess I'm being prepared for 3 years from not when my oldest goes to college
I feel like I"m suffering from empty nest even thou my kids are home.
I have gone to MeetUps before, we have a great walking one but it hasn't led to friendships outside of that.
I don't really know how you make a new best friend, or make friends that you will do more with
Sorry I'm no help
on getting my leg stronger. I met some very nice folk and now I can go out when I want to, or stay here and
read.
I think you have to make an effort to get out and talk to people about some common things that you both
like. It is not easy. I was not allowed to have friends or see my family for 23 years. I find that sometimes
I just like to be alone. I was in therapy for over a year, and found it is OK to be alone. But there are times
when I need to talk and be with friends.
Please listen to yourself and find out when you need to talk and when you need to be alone. They both have their merits.
Hugs
