Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
Good to hear from you.
Don't worry about still thinking how he could stop

I also spend some time wondering 'what on earth happened'. The early days were so much fun and full of love. I don't know what happened but I think I might have put him on a pedestal he had trouble staying on. Basically, I turned a blind eye to early signs of trouble.
Today, I'm hosting my second daughter's family including the in-laws and am looking forward to it very much. They've been here most days this past week as well. We've been having so much fun.
Bob, I'm sorry your wife is injured. You must be meant to stay at home and enjoy a hot chocolate by the fire this year?

Donna, the sadness DOES go away...it really does! After a few years, it becomes dull and distant, and then...it transforms into ...gosh, I don't know how to describe it. The only thing I can think of is to equate it to a part of your life that happened along time ago, that you still remember, but you just feel....neutral about. Not happy, not sad....it just is there. Yes, it will always be there...but it's not "sad". You just need another year under your belt and you'll know what I mean. In the mean time, keep working hard and socking away money and don't forget to stop and smell the roses......and BUY yourself flowers for heavens sake..you deserve to have beauty around you! Hugs for a great year ahead!
