Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

so today was another day with the new one. I so enjoy him. and it gives me more time with my son. well, after dinner (love cooking for family) we (my younger son and his gf and I) were fixing to leave when my older one tells me his dad called him. seems he got a new number so when it came up son thought it was his uncle. turned out dear old dad wanted to congratulate him on his new baby. son told me if he knew it was him he wouldnt have answered (like he's handled him before--just ignored his calls) anyway, dear old dad said he wanted to send him a little something for the baby and asked for his address. son said "send it to mom's. I will get it from there" He didnt and doesnt want him to have his address. I told him he handled it the way he thought he should and let it go.
so why did I have a crying spell when I got home? why does it bother me that he called him? we were all doing so well without him in our lives. So why do I care? my son told me now that he knows his number he will go back to ignoring him. good or bad? the other one is hoping to get some of his money back from dad but i doubt it will ever happen. I am having big trust issues again. i guess a friend of mine that plays a fb game with me is also a friend of his gf's. oh you can betcha I blocked her from my site. AND i went thru her to block his gf too.
i know i should break all contact wit his daughters but it's hard. but I watch what I say for fear that it goes back to him. i certainly havent told them I am working. right now it's all talk about the baby. they have contact with their brother so they call me too. most of them. but which ones do I trust? the one that calls the most says she doesnt talk to dad. she doesnt like what hes done and has no interest in the new gf. another says whatever we talk about is between us. true? who the hell knows? I just feel lost. and alone. even with my sons around i feel alone. don't want them to see me hurting again.

I had gone to the grocery store. When I wheeled my cartback to my car I just stool there a minute. A few spacesaway a Tesla Cyber truck was parked. I had seen it on theroad a few times for a few seconds. But not close up.It looked like it belonged to 2126 and not 2026. I wasgoing to take a picture of the car but the owners cameback and drove away. It was an ordinary middle age...

I have been struggling with the fact that my own brother keeps on bending over backwards to do things for my ex. It really strains the way I feel about my own family. We also have to remind ourselves that our kids or other people don't necessarily have the same reaction or feelings about our exes as we do. That is so hard for me to accept. I am constantly having to remind myself that no one else really knows what it was like to walk in my shoes, and so they don't understand how I feel.
It is also tough to accept that we have to allow our kids to have whatever kind of relationship they feel they want with their father, especially as they grow older. It is a real lesson in letting go. Please know you are not alone in this struggle. I know it can bring me down so easily, and it happens to many people I am sure.
My ex was at a function for one of the kids on Wednesday and I've been feeling bad ever since. Now I've read your post, I know why. I'd actually forgotten that it usually ends up like this. I don't like him. I don't love him. He's not to be trusted. I don't want him in my life. What I do notice is that the more I see him, the better I handle it at the time. Maybe that's why I didn't twig to why I've been feeling down. Now that I know what it is, I'll go through my list of reasons why I don't want him in my life, and once I reach the point of "I'm so glad he's not here spoiling my day. I am free", I know I'll be ok again.
Thanks for giving me the nudge. Maybe you could try the same technique?

From my own experience I can tell you that it will take a conscious effort on your part NOT to let this kind of thing get you in a knot. It might be best if you tell your kids that hearing about the X's communication DOES YOU NO GOOD and to please keep it to themselves. They will eventually get the message.
In the meantime, know that I am holding you in my thoughts and prayers. This is just part of your Journey, my dear. It's not an easy one, but it's necessary. xoxox
