Yay for you. What a wonderful experience. Doesn't that feel good. When you're running low try to find joy in the little things. That is how we all manage to get by.

Today I had a red tailed hawk bathing in my fountain. It was a beautiful thing to watch...and quite rare for here in the city. That moment was a joyful experience, and much needed.

Today I saw two mockingbirds chasing two crows. I find joy in the little things that come into my day. Try to preplan your weekends so you stay busy. I find that helped me a lot as I was getting my divorce.

If you are keeping a hand-written journal, write down what a wonderful time you had yesterday and then you can go back and re-read it when you are having a bad day. This is one way to put the good times in an "emotional savings plan" and draw on them in less than happy times.

Keep this up, girl! YOUR life will go on as long as you keep MAKING IT SO!

Having something to look forward to, big or small, really will help any of us. My therapist taught me to have something to look forward to! Exercise was key for me pre-divorce and after, it helped balance my brain and was my medication. How great you got out and for me, seeing a school of dolphins would be what I call an awesome moment! How great that you had a good weekend!

It is the small awesome moments that Trish pointed out she has, I gather and keep. They add up! It can be something as small as a beautiful flower bed I saw on my way to work I never noticed before. There is a bird in her nest on top of a light fixture right outside my window in this office, under the eave! That helps me not see the foot high grass I have to go out and cut! I am a big believer in happiness projects. Ckathi's suggestion to write it out and keep it, will be your emotional bank you can go and make that withdrawal.

Trisha and MsTerey - Thanks for giving creedence to the things in nature that are designed to bring us JOY even in our darkest times! YESTERDAY I saw a male Baltimore Oriole in my sunroom garden -- and I DON'T mean the pro baseball kind, either! He was so bright in his orange and black feathers, he was easy to spot and I stood inside and watched him peck around among the Hosta looking for insects to take back to the nest. You see, Baltimore Orioles are nature's few birds that really DO effective co-parenting! The male goes out and hunts food for his mate while she sits the eggs in the nest! I think that is so amazing!

This morning as I was "staging" some more outdoor photos for the real estate listing on my farm, I was busying around and had to temporarily move my hummingbird feeders. Lo and behold, I was suddenly being PURSUED by a hummingbird! He was buzzing all around as if to say "Hey! That's MY BREAKFAST BAR!"

Incidents like these are what I refer to as "Heavenly Father's Tender Mercies." Take time to look around you each day and KNOW the love that went into designing all of these amazing sights and sounds. That SAME LOVE went into creating EACH OF US and we need to stop and reflect on that more than just once in awhile.

You know what I used to do? I have my cell phone and I would (and still do) take 1 snapshot of something fun that I did. And when I had my down days, I would just scroll through the pictures of friends, activities, grandchildren, and it just lifted my soul. Journaling, of course is awesome too. I did that as well. The pictures were just quick and easy to access for instant "hugs" to myself.

I still do that today. I was in church this weekend and feeling a little sad. I opened my cell phone camera roll and scrolled through the happy pictures of my last trip with my granddaughters and found myself almost laughing out loud at the joy we had and the memories we are stockpiling.

Caligril suggestion about the camera is a good idea... today's cell phones take very good pictures and video. I often forget I have it and I have a good android phone you probably could launch the space shuttle with it! I should take more photos, and it is fun today to take out your pophone and show someone a photo of not just people, but something you like! I bought myself a very nice Canon digital camera for Christmas, a really good one, and have not used it too much. I frame things as I drive, and one day I rode by a very nice barn/stonework/weathered I saw back and forth on my country ride to work every day! For months I thought about taking the photo, how etc. I was upset one morning, someone had sprayed painted a pink X on the half door! I thought I should have took that photo, now why would someone do that to this lovely old barn, probably from the late 1800's! BUT imagine my dismay on my way home later, when the WHOLE barn was leveled and gone! That was a pink demoliton mark! Seems that the highway was going to be made wider... so lesson learned to live in the moment and take that shot or chance on something. Take risks! Look forward to every day and think of what we do have, not so much what we don't!
