Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group

I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

I feel like we could all use a little lift so I am going to start with a couple of my favorite quotes and sayings!

"She packed up her potential and all that she had learned, grabbed a cute pair of shoes and headed out to change a few things" (silly but it is on this little metal board someone brought to me)

I love the first one and that is what I'm doing right now. I'm definitely changing a few things in my favor. Have heard from the ex's atty. and it's not even reasonable. I will think of this as I go to court in July.

I love the Emerson quote and printed that one on an index card and taped it to my refrigerator all through the 18 Months of Hell.

Kathi - I have drawn on that one for my divorce process as well. I first posted it on my daughters bedroom door one day when she was going through a rough patch in high school. I love quotes!

I depended on one MsTerey gave me during our divorce, it was a lifesaver.

This is only one of the many verses which kept me going. This one got my son through a year of homesickness overseas as well.

Now is not forever and no one ever died from divorce even though it feels like it...thanks MsTerey! My other one is...I am where I am supposed to be....doing what I am supposed to be doing...that one helped me find purpose within all the crap. When I was forced to move it was in Sept..that fall I planted over 200 spring bulbs...my mantra then was...when the spring bulbs bloom so will I. There are so many that I adopted over the last 4 years...all had meaning and purpose...Big Hugs...Kathy

Wow, these are all great. I may have just found some new ones to put on post cards around the house. I clung to Jeremiah 29:11. I sure didn't know what the plan was at the time.
