Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

(((HUGS)))
Try not to let them get under your skin.
Nowdays (I'm almost 8 years post-final divorce, I still could care less what X is doing. He and I have shared a few email exchanges this past year, but only regarding our grandkids. I learned last summer that he has re-married (NOT the woman he left me for) and all I could do was sort of shake my head in wonder. I no longer have any feelings for that man one way or another. Your time will come, too, my dear. It just takes time, distance and no contact.
Sending you big squeezy hugs!
xoxo
Five years out, you're likely good with it all, so you can handle yourself just fine! Talk or shut 'em down, either way you'll make out just fine! Best!
I know very well what it's like to be ignored and am sending you huge hugs.
love and hugs

jammine and kamary: I found it odd that my family had no clue I filed for divorce until maybe a month before when I was asking for financial things. We all worked at my father's company, I left 13 yrs before to be the hired help. He still works with them. They are too busy on their own personal endeavors to care, it's my sister and I who moved on, and we are close.
My oldest sister, who lost her husband to cancer, once told me "At least you have someone" She and her husband were the best couple. They went on so many trips, I sometimes was included, and had fun.
Being that my ex still works with my family he tells them all these things, I was the bad person. I was disinvited to things because of how I would act, based on what my ex told them. I've never made a scene.
I still to this day won't actually tell the verbal and physical abuse I endured. I won't publicly speak ill of my ex. I look at the sports pages these days about concussions. Ex played hockey for over 30 yrs, constantly came home with injuries, then broke his neck, huge cuncussion, broken shoulder, and came out of it 80% OK, but very mean. The kids were young. It affected his brain.
It didn't effect his intellectual thought, it affected his personal thought. My oldest sister helped me, my father hired people. My brother sent a gift basket, my other ister and I (who are now great friends) didn't connect.
I gather, I just come from a family that we can afford to help you, we just won't be there. Hence, the divorce.
