There's no predicting which way people will fall when divorce happens -- even if your parting is amicable. Give it time. Don't push it with this woman. Chances are, she may be feeling a bit unsure of her own marriage in light of this news of yours breaking up after so many years.

She's waiting to see how it all plays out. Most likely she doesn't want to take sides so she's being silent. I agree with Kati, don't push and give it time. My nephew was shocked because I still see my EX-Inlaws. I told him they were not the problem. Of course I'm not as involved with them as when I was married to their son, but there is still a relationship and I love them like parents. One of his siblings too. We see each other once a month. Hardly ever talk about the EX. Don't really need to.

Sometimes when people break up or divorce a lot of things that were hidden are revealed and lies are told, people don't know who to believe or trust. We are all guilty of taking sides because we feel like we truly know someone and that they would never do some of the things that is being said. My EX has taught me that you can live with someone and know them over half you life and they are capable of doing some pretty ugly things you never dreamed they would be capable of doing. I'm not saying that is you, just saying that some people (self included) need time to figure stuff out.

Sorry to hear about your separation

I agree to give it time and not push. Hopefully she will come around and see how important your friendship is. It's difficult for all parties involved. People just don't know how to react or act sometimes.

I agree with the others. Divorce is sometimes a shock to the people around you. They don't know what to say, so they say nothing. Hopefully this cousin will get in touch with you in the future. I'm glad all your other friends are staying close.
