I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

Our member Vikki Stark, author of Runaway Husbands, recently posted a tickler about an upcoming study in which anyone can participate! The results of this study will be a new book all about the effects that divorce has on children -- of all ages.
On Vikki's behalf, I am posting some information here in the hopes that all of you who are either going through divorce now, are already divorced or who are, yourselves, children of divorce will participate.

A bit more about the study - I'm researching how parents tell their kids that they are getting divorced and have prepared a questionnaire for adults whose parents divorced when they were kids or teens.
Plus, I'd love to hear from current kids or teens with divorced parents and have a separate questionnaire that parents can help kids fill out (the teens can do it on their own). Working with your child, talking about when he or she learned about the divorce, can be a very therapeutic experience for both of you!
The study is important because how kids learn about their parents' divorce is really crucial to their being able to integrate that momentous change in their lives. If we can help parents do it better, it will always help kids.
