I wish I could help here. I don't know all I meet where I live are let's say not good men. Then again they all move to fast so maybe it's me.

You'll get there - the way I look at it is if God wants someone to be in my life, He will make it happen. You may change your mind and try again later. That's ok too.

You may be right. Right now, the prospect of meeting someone online is just causing me additional stress at a time when that is the last thing I need.

Dating sites can be intimidating. I've been on most of them throughout my 7 years of single life and had a lot of the same feelings of frustration. Take a break from it. Read "Date or Soul Mate" and relax. There is plenty of time to date. Work on creating the life you want.

If you felt intimidated by what men listed as their "wants" and "needs" then I second hurtinandhealin's advice about getting yourself a copy of "Date or Soul Mate" by Neil Clark Warren and reading it. Do the exercises in the book, too, and then you will have a deeper understanding of what these guys are talking about in terms of wants and needs. Chances are, you will then have a list of your own!

I am a firm believer that a healthy relationship with a member of the opposite sex needs to begin as a FRIENDSHIP. If you approach the dating world in the mindset that you are looking to make a friend first and foremost, it may be helpful to you. But then again, maybe you're really not ready to date yet.

I have been disheartened to find married men and men with GFs on the sites.
Even sites like match.com have married guys.

Oh well... At least you had the nerve to try it. More than I can say. I won't even look on the free weekends. Maybe afraid of even thinking along those lines.

Boy, if I had a guy trying to chat me up and I found he was already with someone else, I suspect he would wish he never met me! Oddly enough, I have forgiven my wasband, but God help any man that tried to make me his "other woman!"

The free weekends are traditionally not really free.
The guys on the sites that are married or have GFs so not care when you call them on it.

You notice men always say things that have a hidden meaning. They want to hold hands with a woman and walk along a beach. Unsaid is.unless the football game is on. They say they are more interested about what's inside a woman then their physical looks, leaving unsaid they like big boobs, physically fit, slim women. They want to go slow, take their time and get to know a woman, not mentioning that taking it slow means they waited till the second date to get you into bed.
It's the unsaid stuff that scares me.

Yes! I think I prefer to look a guy in the eye, see how he says things(his tone), his body language, etc. So much can be determined in person right off the bat. Just can't get that with online dating until you meet up somewhere.

I think the smaller the town that you live the more likely a dating site can "help"
I would presume that for either gender it is hard to put who you are on what is essentially a billboard that instead of whizzing by in a car, people can park and mull over

so you have to discern what is real and what is a sales pitch
considering the world we live in it is likely that there is not a lot of real

Playing the on-line dating game is not like the conventional dating etiquette. It plays by a total different set of rules. For certain, the motto is flipped: It's not what You can do, but what the suitor expresses can do [or has] for you. Dating profiles are very much like reading an applicant's job resume. Make no bones about it, most any women would be intimidated by the male's posting his wants and needs. ...big mistake. Call me old fashion, but isn't it the women 's prerogative to conduct the interview as the interviewer ! In other words, it's the suitor's burden to qualify from what he has expressed in his ability to offer to YOU.
