Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
It has been just over a year since I moved out and I've been divorced for 9 months. I do well for a while and then cry my eyes out for days. I am healing though and you will too, you will notice that your down times don't last as long and aren't as intense as in the begining. Just give it....and I hate to even say it, but it's true....TIME. That doesn't ease the hurt you are feeling right at this very minute, but have hope and know that it will get better.
I'd like to share something that just happened this morning...please excuse the length.....I had 2 daughters get married last year in the midst of my divorce. I have had a very hard time looking at their wedding pictures because of the feelings of loss over my own family, but I decided to look at them this morning and found that I didn't cry, I only felt a little sad, and when I looked at my ex, I felt pity and could only shake my head in sadness and know that I did the right thing in leaving him. He'd had affairs, was abusive at times, but on the outside everyone thought we were a great family. I'm surprised that I didn't get overcome with emotion, just a bittersweet sadness---and I didn't cry!!
I tell you this, to let you know that things will get easier. You will have setbacks but each will not be as hurtful as the one before. Have hope for a great future. You are on the right track, don't get discouraged and keep hanging in there. We will hang with you and I'll keep you in my prayers. God bless you---I'm here if you need to talk.
You really need to just feel what your feeling - but set goals for yourself - make a decision. Mentally make a strong decision to what your going to do - and don't look back. He just left in July - any strength that you had built is gone again. You fell of the wagon. Get back on it when your tears begin to slow down. Get out - totally out. You WILL regain your self- esteem by taking charge of your situation. He's not going to make anything better for you - so who needs him. Let him go. You are such a wonderful woman and to hear how his family just adores you makes me jealous. (I have my own story of hurt about "family"). Unless you truly take a stand in this you will never be able to move on. Please - move on. You're too precious a gift to give anyone your soul. Love you, Nancy
