I read the article it took me to , will read more later. But about that article, buying new clothes, make up and hair, that's all great things to do if you can afford it... For me even spending 10 bucks on clothes, make up and hair is money I need to/have to spend on other things right now.. When this all started with my stbx I decided I would check out the church of my denomination in town(turned out to not like the one back home at all but that's a whole nother story) so I went shopping for new dresses and bought several, I love shopping, it never fails to make me feel good when I have a brand new dress, blue jeans, shirt or new boots or something.
I miss shopping : (....... Shopping is so much fun!

Thank you so much for checking out the site. I'll be adding to it regularly. For those that found the runaway husband link interesting, see also the article 'husband rewriting the marriage history' - that one also made my jaw drop when I first read it - it was so similar to what my X had done.

Re: the no money for shopping, I know where you are coming from and I have a couple of suggestions. Some women I know here have started organising get togethers to do clothes swaps. Most of us have stuff in our wardrobe that we have never worn, or don't wear anymore - maybe somebody else might like it. Here in Australia we also have what's called Op Shops - they sell 2nd hand clothes donated by people. I have one friend in particular that is a shopping genius in these places, it's become like a hobby for her. She's identified all the best local Op shops and her kids wear designer brands that have cost her next to nothing. If you have very young kids these places are a gold mine for dress up clothes. If you approach it with the right mindset it can be kind of fun, think 'treasure hunt'. You would be amazed at what she's bought and for how little so maybe give it a go.

Geoellsin: I love the thing about "thrift shopping" or treasure hunting as I have always called it. It's just another way of RECYCLING and I have never been "too proud" to take someone else's "trash" and turn it into a work of art.

I am somewhat of a thrift shop snob, in that when I go there looking for clothing, I only buy DESIGNER STUFF! And this is something I started long before divorce came knocking at my door. I could have gone into any store I wanted and paid full retail, but there was something alluring about the "thrill of the chase" that sucked me in. I loved wearing designer clothing that I had paid a couple of dollars for! Still do!
