I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

Anniversary

He moved out last April. Saturday will be our 22 year wedding anniversary. Ironic. 2/22. Two doesn't seem so lucky anymore. How did all of you get through the anniversaries? Especially the first one post divorce/separation?

He wants us to have dinner. I don't get it. So we can celebrate the year of marriage that wasn't?????

But I don't want to be with anyone else that day either. Probably should be alone to cry a lot! Keeping a box of Kleenex nearby.

I found friends to hang with.
Also at the time I was doing some video work with a friend so that kept my mind off it.
If you have a job maybe you cold drown yourself in work for that one day.

I'm in the middle of divorce, the only milestone dates related to my cheating deceitful x are my children's birthdays, other wise I have wiped the calendar clean, don't want reminders of what was once nor reminders of other milestone dates like when I found out she was cheating or the day her and her cheating piece of shit boyfriend did something.
My life with her means nothing since it was filled with her deciet so any date that marks anything we might have done together is likely to be a date in which she was pretending,
My life ahead has all open dates, dates upon which to mark significant things yet to occur

I did much what you're thinking of doing on the first wedding anniversary post-separation. He was the last person I wanted to see. I'm 5 years down the track and our anniversary date passes without much thought now.

I can't imagine why he wants to have dinner. Whatever his reason, I'd say no. No contact is the way to go if you want to begin your new life as soon as possible.

I'm sorry it's still raw for you and he's being ridiculous.

Don't go to dinner with him. Find something else to do away from the house. I have un-anniversaries now

Is he testing you and getting off on his rocks suggesting a pseudo celebration? This person has "balls". Ironically speaking, tell him you will have a wonderful surprise waiting !!!!

Say yes, and do not be there or show up. Then tell him you have forgotten all about it, just like he did to his marriage vows. Why on earth would he want to do that unless he is trying to sweet talk you into relinquishing some of your entitlement. Keep a sharp eye on the dealings. Hugs and prayers.
