My condition is not COPD, but Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. The result is similar, though -- I am on continuous flow O2 24/7. And now I'm wanting to be back on my motorcycle at least a bit. I rode last week -- it was awesome. I have O2 tanks that I can take with me, and have a backpack that will hold my D cylinders. Here is where I am looking for some advice...
I have the hardest time getting my helmet on while trying to keep the silly nasal cannula in place! I wear a full-face helmet that fits pretty snugly. I'm wondering if I'm going to need to go to one of the "modular" helmets in which the chin and facemask lift up -- I wonder if that would be easier. The cannula just slips off my ears when I try to put my current helmet on.
When you ride/rode, was this an issue for you? How did you solve it? Any suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, I ride a 2010 Triumph Bonneville T100. Sweet bike -- VERY low mileage given my health issues the past couple of years! Hoping to put LOTS more miles on her in the years to come...
Howdy, I am new to this discussion but I also have O2 24/7 and I now use a lift up helmet and it seems to fit the bill, it is an HJC. I also wear hearing aids and glasses. I ride a Honda Shadow Arrow 2011. I had two Harley's and put 100 K on each of them.
I also got a Blue Tooth head set so I can answer my phone when my lovely wife checks in on me.
My Pulmonary Hypertension is an unknown cause, could have been from my military service. I had a right side cath and the wedge pressure was 25 and they thought it was from the left side of my heart so I went and say a cardiologist and he said it was from my lungs, so going back to the pulmonologist on the 24th see what is next.
Looking for a better back pack for use with my leather jacket any suggestion?
