I was recently diagnoses with diabetes. I know "nothing" about this disease. I have had over 20 surgeries but this diagnosis threw me for a loop. I'm only 1-2 number over the suggested number to claim the diseasae. My hubby is diabetic and checks his counts all the time but for a diabetic he really doesn't follow all the rules of the disease so I feel he is of no help to me. He eats what he wants and does what he wants.....he is hard headed when it comes to his health.
I have other issues right now with psoriasis on the back of my head that I was dealing with and I didn't need this diagnosis right now. I guess illness doesn't follow the rules either.
I've cut back on sweets, although i've been know in the past to have a sweet tooth......as I get older, I'm 80, and I don't need this.
Any suggestions on how to get started with this new journey would be appreciated. When do I test, prick my finger? before or after eating..etc.......i'm clueless.
