Developing a Positive Attitude DAPA Community Group
Hi, This group is dedicated to helping people develop a positive attitude. It is for all depression sufferers, anybody who suffers from anxiety or stress, has suffered bad experiences in the past, or anyone who desires to develop a more positive attitude through positive thinking.
Start to keep a list of your own feeling and emotions when situations arise for you. It is important that you allow yourself to feel emotions instead of burying them. Share with others how you feel when you are feeling emotions. Begin to talk to others about your feeling about things.
When I was numb to emotion and expressing it, one of the things that my pdoc told me to do, is to be more aware of the way things feel. He told me to stand under the shower and focus on how every drop felt running down my body. He told me to make myself completely "aware" of the water. It is really about getting back in touch with ourselves that we have ignored for so long. Another thing was to spend some close time with one of my children. To hold their hand, touch their hair, hug them. But, when I was doing it, to feel every touch and emotion that I felt. Almost like being in slow motion.
It is a process. Remember that it took a while for you to get here and it will take a while for you to work through it. Cry when you feel like crying, get angry when you feel like getting angry, and laugh when you feel like laughing. You can control your anger but still allow it to be expressed. I hope this helped.
A therapist would be the best thing for you sweetie, since you are struggling so much. They can help so much and know how to deal with the things you are struggling with. Hugs
