Ive had dermatillomania as long as I can remember, I had OCD when I was younger and my derma was even worst then. I would pick at my cats scabs(he would always fight other cats) and mine like usual. Ive been to therapy and they somehow got rid of the rest of my ocd (not being able to wear certain things, counting things, placing things a certain order etc.) but still picked my skin just less often. I was told that I would always have it since it can not be got rid of just changed to something different but I never tried since what would I change it to? I do not suffer from anxiety of feel much shame about it since it is something I am used to but picking does affect y life and I need to find a way to stop. I tried using inositol (natural remedy of vitamin B)but it does not seem to be working since my trigger is more boredom than anxiety, my nails are so short they are the size of my cuticles and the skin arround my fingers are torn, I also have many scars, and four are on the top of my wrist making the form of a face (no it was not done on purpose they were at first burns from work, I pick at scabs and make them bigger than the initial point). I have tried to stop but I find if I hold it off too long I get tensed and fustrated. I also cannot get a therapist since it takes 8month and I am moving in August... and once I move I will not have time due to university and I am afraid of it interfering with my studies.
