I hope this group makes it's way into the many groups of this platform because this is such a big disorder but not many people know about it.

Dermatillomania had been the bane of my existence for as long as I can remember and it wasn't until I was older that I found out it was actually a disorder. I will pick at any scab until it bleeds over and over again. I have made my face bleed because of the acne spots I won't let heal and some of been bad enough they look like small holes. My nails are probably the worst at times because they are more easily hidden. I cannot stand anything rough and not smooth and perfect so I'm constantly digging around my nails, and they will bleed bad and make my fingers look awful but I just can't stop. When I'm deep in thought, or I'm stressed or anxious, it's a habit to start doing it to help soothe my nerves or just out of complete boredom. I have tried so many things and for my nails I'm still not sure but I have found that if I get those acne patches and put them over any spots that helps so much. Because as soon as my fingers hit the little patch my brain stops and is like oh yeah. I can't do that. I have to get the ones that will stick though overnight otherwise they're useless. 

Hopefully more people will join this group and maybe help those who have this disorder find out what it is exactly. And don't hesitate to share anything you've tried that has worked or talk about your journey. I would love to hear from like-minded people and connect with others in the same boat as me!
