I just wrote this one yesterday... I put a lot of symbolism so let's see how much you can figure out! =]
Rain
Rain falls down on the earth
Beginning as calm, gentle drops
Falling down from fluffy white clouds
It seems so beautiful in the gentle breeze
But don't allow yourself to be fooled
The soft rain can turn to an angry storm
With rain pelting down from black clouds
Eroding away even the largest stone
That gentle breeze can turn
Cold and bitter
With enough strength and power
To make the oldest and strongest tree
Snap and fall
But when you hear a gentle rain
Do not run away
Not all gentle rains turn angry
And it may be just what you need
To lull you to sleep
And wash your tears away
I think that you are talking about the rapidity with which people's moods and lives can change. Sometimes moods/life can start out seemingly beautiful and turn ugly and almost break us. But (and I liked this part alot) you were also trying to say that you can't be overly cautious and frightened in life, because sometimes our very cure lies in lifes challenges (please, please correct me if I am off base).
I liked this poem because of all of the intricate symbolism you included. It made the poem like a little riddle!
Thank you for your comment! I think you got it basically right. I think it is possible to interpret it in a variety of ways. Mostly though, I was writing about how people can come into your life and seem so nice, but then all of a sudden they change and they aren't who they were before. But you can't be afraid of all people and relationships. Good people are just what we need.
