Scared of moving on

I’m new here as I needed people that knew what I was going through.  All my life I’ve been in relationships with narcissists/manipulator and I feel like I can’t move on from this pattern.  I’ve been in therapy many years and I know I have this tendency to be attracted to narcissists/sociopath but I get fooled everytime.  Im in relationship with someone that I suspect is a covert narcissist. I just can’t deal with the rejection again.  I want to leave this relationship that makes me unhappy, but I feel I’m being abandonned again and I can’t do it.  I’m scared to move on because Im sure I’ll attract some other sociopaths... I don’t know what to do

Hi. I'm going through a similar situation. My suggestion is to do your best to keep reading and get closer to your family. If you miss him and want him back.. hang around.. he will come back. That's my issue. I'm not sure he's coming back? Ugh.

Hi. There are a lot pf great videos on youtube about narcissist. The more you watch and by different people the more you realize the patterns of these narcs are mostly the same. Also it really starts to settle with you that these people do what they do on purpose and they don't care about you. I'm learning to spot them sooner and angry that I allowed my self on a recent acquaintance for a couple months with one b4 I recognized it. And this is just in trying to create new friendships not even romantic relationships. Don't give up, learn all you can about their tactics, you will soon realize that you want nothing to do with them.

Its like you spoke the exact words Im feeling. Just when I think I'm meeting a genuine person, they flip there narcissist switch on. This is how they charm their victims. I think we are attracted to them because our self esteem has been torn up and we want so much to be loved. The narcissist preys on people pleasers. They put us into a position of having to please them and it's never enough. This rips our self esteem up. I have started researching on how to identify a narcissist better to try and avoid them. I can't say Ill ever be ready or sure of letting people into my life right now. Hang in there sister!
