This group is for anyone who has a narcissist or sociopath in their life. It is meant to be a place to express feelings related to having people like this in your life and to learn and share coping strategies in dealing with these types of individuals.

I started this group because i have someone in my family who is to the best of my knowledge and sociopath and narcissist. I usually don't have anything to do with her. She is my sister by the way. This seems to be the best coping strategy i have found, sadly, after trying a number of other things such as therapy, talking things out, etc. Now she is back in my life due to changing family circumstance and I am really struggling with it. I don't want to be her "victim" but it is so tricky in knowing how to approach this. Anyone who has dealt with this kind of person probably immediately gets what I mean. Anyway, I meant this site to be a place for people to at least vent their frustrations and maybe even record troubling incidents that may come up with their narc or socio... because these kind of people tend to reivent the past, lie pathologically and just make you doubt your own worth and sanity in general. Currently i am dealing with trying to figure out how to allow my sister in my life just enough so that she can see my mom who is staying with me without it completely destroying me. She is already testing my boundries and playing the victim over nothing, setting me up to look like a bad guy, etc. any support or advice is appreciated. and i would be interested in your stories and experiences, too. I'm already struggling in my life and don't need this kind of trouble. My sister is well off by the way and is basically torturing me for sport. I literally feel like prey when i am around her. she is completely cold and calculating and she gives me this horrible predatory stare when she is talking to me. She actually doesn't give a crap about my mom but is using her to get access to me. Meanwhile, my mom wants to see her even though she admits she is "flawed". that's a nice way of putting it. my sister and i actually went to counselling a long time ago and afterward i talked to the counsellor privately and they agreed that my sister was really f'd up but couldn't really go into much with me since she had been a client also. thank you.

Im new today here, am really busy so cant guarantee if I can use this like I hope. and that's my excuse for no capitals and punctuation, Ive gotten lazy is the real reason lol
I had a house fire 4 years ago and have been fighting to survive all the criminal business practices and rebuild myself and Im in the dental field. So yay.
been with a narcisisst for 30 years and its getting bad.
much weight on my shoulders so I felt better when I thought of helping you somehow if it were possible.
so- a little unrelated senarios but maybe that is where solutions can be found

So what a horrible situation, so let me see if i understand, your sister will be coming into your world, your home? your rules. Bottom line is talk with your mom, and make sure the two of you are standing on solid ground, that she understands your concerns and you understand hers. Respect is key here and your mom, sounds like she already knows what your sister is all about. Mabey if you express your concerns and they are totally valid by the way, then the two of you can make sure that your boundries are not crossed and if they are that you react effectively and remove her opportunity to do it again. period and make that clear to your sister, take that preditory stare and double it. This is your life and no one has a right to come into it and reak havoc. no no no and if she thinks she is all that you can have my address tell her you just stumbled upon a long lost aunt that has a huge house and wants to her....mabey she just needs to be around someone that isnt scared of her preditory stare...trust me ill shove it right back up her ass. lol your a warrior...and i applaud you. Stay a good soul....and pray...you got this!

Thank you for starting this group. I am at my wits end with my sister and in a similar situation as yourself. I live with my dad who has some health problems and my narcissistic sister (the oldest sibling) comes over 1 to 2 times a day plus calls twice a day. My other sister lives about 5 hours away and we both are so fed up. My dad feels she can do no wrong, was always his favorite and doesn't want to hear about the wrong she does. My mom died a few years ago and since then my dad has been letting her clean the house-throw out whatever she wants, touch everything. I have threatened to move out a few times. I do have a storage unit where I keep a lot of stuff safe from her moving, touching or discarding it but otherwise i have to keep my stuff in my bedroom. I recently had to go out on the day before Thanksgiving to by a large pot to cook the food for the next day- mom had a bunch of large pots but now they are all gone or she moved them. I promised my mom I'd take care of dad but honestly if I could financially I would move out. My sister is so conceited, bossy, etc. My dad has home health and she told them to call her to set stuff up-this was when dad was real sick and I stopped working, I'm still home full time now, My other sister and I vent to each other but its good to know we're not alone. I used to be in an abusive marriage so it is hard for me to just fluff off her b.s. The hundred questions she asks, stupid ones like she doesn't think. I try to avoid her as much as possible but my brother was over today so I spent time with them. Ended with me yelling at her and going back upstairs. Then she sent a weird text that didn't make sense. I know my dad loves me but he wants us to all get along not realizing he has made things worse by stroking her ego and allowing all this. When mom was alive things would have never been this way. He also tells her all about his health and not me, found out how bad off he really was earlier this week because I was there when the nurse came. But he never told mom about his health either...Any advice on how to cope when you can't totally get away from someone?
