Diabetes Is Tougher in the Summer

One of the complications of diabetes, both Type 1 and Type 2, is an impaired ability to adjust to rises in temperature, which can cause dangerous increases in body temperature during the summer. The underlying problem, nerve damage, occurs in 60 to 70 percent of Americans with diabetes; it can affect nearly every organ in the body, including sweat glands. When nerve damage keeps the sweat glands from working properly, the body fails to cool down as the mercury rises.

I live in London so the heat is not so much of a problem but I do find sleeping difficult when its humid.
I worked nights for 6 years so maybe it could have contributed. the body usually produces insulin throughout the day according to the daylight. but I seem to produce more at night my glucose level is highest in the morining before eating
Its up in the 85% in London maybe because of Wimbledon
And when I use to take metformin and glipizide for my Diabetes I noticed it use to make me feel very hot. I don't feel as hot now that I take insulin but the oral Diabetic meds really had that effect on me and it wasn't limited to the summer months but it was worse when the weather got warmer.
This is just my theory based on what I know about health and medicine. I think that certain medications can effect the hypothalamus in our brain. The hypothalamus is responsible for our hunger, thirst, body cooling and heating system, our sweat glands and our sex drive. Which would explain why certain medications have such a profound effect on these things when we take them.
Diabetes is linked to every single one of the things that the hypothalamus is responsible for controlling. It is also not surprising how these things can play a role in weight management also.

Don't know what you use in the USA but the stuff over here cost an arm and a leg to buy if you use it as they say it don't last too long
Lost - sunscreen isnt all that expensive there. About $10 a bottle but it lasts all summer.
