There is absolutely nothing wrong with canned veggies. All you need to do is rinse them and the salt is gone. Even chick peas which are packaged in heavy, starchy brine, if you rinse them the starch is gone.
Its just so convenient to get a can of soup with some fresh bread, and all the picture's on some of these so called health soups make them seem a great wholesome meal
I guess you have to make your own to control weither this is the case!
I didnt know there was that much salt in the canned foods either. I knew it was bad, but not that bad.
But usually I make our own and I never add salt to cooking so we just add a little bit at the table. I find that if you use celery in it you need little or none extra.
If I have time and there is no soup in the fridge I will get some stock and just add a packet of frozen veg and boil it up while making the toast and that is really nice and not as much salt as the cans etc.
need to educate myself about this
I know the fat the calorie and protein, also remember to take the magnifying glass shopping.
everything that is canned and convenient seems to be full of salt is what I read.
The crock pot is good after the preparation is done!
