Apple cider vinegar or lemon juice do help on a temporary basis.
I didn't have either in the house and we live out of town and in the middle of the night I was not going to wake DH to go in and get some.
Eat plenty of protein and only a little carbs - vegetables - might also help. That helped me get mine down.
The question is though, why are they high?
That is something that you need to address as high sugars = possible long-term damage.
But do NOT stop eating as that will not lower your levels. Despite it being somewhat illogical it is a fact.
I don't know why it's so hi. But the doctor called me in for this Thursday to talk about my blood test. I may have thyroid problems. Will that affect my sugars? oh. I had fruit this morning and fries the size of a medium potato at 7pm. I may eat more later.
my dog is a German shepherd/ Irish wolf hound mix. she is 21 months old, 27 inches at the shoulder and weighs 93lbs. she knocks everything over because she is still puppyish. she is very smart, and funny.

Like Hathani said, apple cider vinegar and few carbs and more protein will keep you low. Dont forget to eat your meals and snacks though or it will go higher.. strange, I know, but true.
Also, I would exercise as much as I could.. lots of walking or swimming or whatever you can do and drink lots of water. This will help flush you out and lower your sugars. Good luck with your appoiiintment!
The reason for wanting my sugars close to normal is for my glasses. if the sugar is too high or low, I get blurred vision. at $300. for a eye glasses, I want the to last and work at least with small highs and lows. as it is rite now I have my screen set at 2x larger then normal.
Thank you all for the suggestion. I will get lemon juice. rite now all I have is water.
It's good to know yous' : )
I didnt know it affected your eyeglasses. I thought that if you need 2c larger, then that is how bad your eyes are and that is just the prescription you now need for your glasses. I wouldnt worry about it.
You said you had fruit and some potato fries. That is possibly your problem.
I can't eat fruit it sends my levels through the roof.
Anything white, including potatoes, is a no-no (cauliflower is the exception)
Meals and snacks should always include protein and carbs - my rule of thumb is twice the amount of protein to carbs, but then I am a real meat/protein lover.
Have you been to see an educator or a dietician as they might be able to guide you and find the foods that will work best for you as we are all different and react differently.
Hope this helps.
BTW the dog I was talking about? No wonder he looked the same - he was an Irish Wolfhound cross.
I think also that you might need to adjust your medications.
A dietician or a diabetic clinic are always good to go to when you are diagnosed. I got a lot of information from them and I still go to a dietician regularly.
You have to test two hours after you eat a meal or a snack to see how you react to each different type of food, before you know how they react on you.
Again, exercise.
Those Irish Wolfhounds are huge. I love them. They look like they have such scratchy fur, but it is soft as anything :)

I've been awake since 4:30am, And not eaten as of yet. But the good news is my sugars are nice and low for me.
I slept from 11:30am to 2:45pm And I still have not eaten. But my sugars dropped to 5.4 tested at 3:20pm. It seems to me that I shouldn't eat, if I want my sugars low. My body is not use to the low, and I have the shakes bad. Well I'm Off to get my eyes tested.
Thanks friends.
Hi Melva. Welcome back. I dont know about the apple cider vinegar. From what I have heard, you can mix it with water or any kind of drink that you like. I think most people use about an ounce in one glass of other liquid. I didnt find it did anything for me, but others have found it really helps. Good Luck. Let us know how it works for you.
so I need the reading glasses for the PC thats why I have to have the type so big. What a relief.
I finely ate at 6pm.
Thanks for caring Friends. ((Hug)) to all.
