Just got my TV, phone and internet yesterday. Verizon had trouble getting it started and had to come 3 times and finally replaced all the connections. When I was a kid we all sat around the radio and listened to inner Sanctum and Walter Winchell and were very satisfied. Now it is almost impossible to live without TV and the internet. We are truly spoiled.
My experience has been something that just can't be explained properly, You would have to be here to realize what has happened,. My entire neighborhood was buried with ocean and sand and boardwalk. It looked like the atom bomb hit, The boardwalk exploded at 2 AM on Oct 30 into homes and cars. I didnt have electric from Oct 30 to Nov 15. I stayed home for a week and a half - sitting by the oven in a down coat, snow boots and mittens and a flashlight. It was pitch black and very, very scary, After a week and a half I couldnt take another minute and went to a friend in the city for 5 days. Most people had left after the storm - most had children to go to, For me and others like me, it was different.
There are homes who just have flooded basements and there are those who have completely been destroyed. There are also those who have the top of their homes but the bottom is missing, They will be demolished,
75% of the cars have been totalled. Somehow mine survived.
The sanitation departments from all over the country have been working 24/7 since Oct 31 to clear some of the streets and roads and have done a maginificent job, I cant say enough about all the volunteers and Red Cross who supplied us with everything from food to toilet paper to baby and pet items. No one was forgotten. I have volunteered all my life and suddenly I was on the receiving end, It was hard to accept.
Before I forget, I want to thank everyone on this site who was thinking of me and praying for me, it means a lot and its good to be back,.

I am grateful you got what you needed and we all have times we are in need, Thank-you goes to all to those who helped not only you, although I do know you personally and I loved how you got helped out.
It sounds like what you went through was more like what it sounded like for Cameron Parish, south of us where many homes were totally destroyed and they now are supposed to live on higher houses.
Again, thanks for all the prayers and your thinking of me. Now we have to find Chesty and then we will be able to reopen the restaurant that's been boarded up for a month now.
