We all sorta know what we eat if it is good or bad.Icecream is probably your downfall Lizzy even carb smart cause of the fats in it. Honestly when I would eat fresh fish almost every day cause I lived on the beach it was easy. I ate salads with little oil and vinegar all the time and some chicken and yes lots of eggs. No cookies, cakes, donuts sweet stuff rarely.I had good cholesterole readings. That is why I don't believe about the eggs either.
If I bake the chicken I make and keep it on hand and eat that instead of grabbing a celery and cream cheese I am better off too. I just don't get fresh fish now cause one it is to expensieve here to buy.
But I am trying to do that again with my SB way of life minus the fish and we shall see what happens. Triglycerides are also fats. So if they are up also then you know your eating to much butter or oils or bad stuff with fats in it.
We need a few weeks on Survivor!!!! Lol
Nothing I'm sure you don't already know.
But my doctor has not given me any indication of what level of cholesterol would lead to a need to take statins.
She told me it depends on the individual, such as high blood pressure which I don;t have, I also get al ot of exercise.
I don't want to go on statins but everything with this dam diabetes seems just a bit of a guesstimate
try this or that and everyone is different .
One doctor told me "Well some people like to take lots of pills and potions and some don't"
Needless to say I didn't see him again!
for bad it is 15 - 130 ( LDL)
TRIGLYCERIDES 10- 190
I WOULD INSIST THAT YOUR DOCTOR TELL YOU WHAT YOUR NUMBER ARE . YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW . . I ALWAYS TELL THE DOCTOR I WANT MY TEST RESULTS FOR EVERYTHING HE DOES . IF YOU KNOW YOUR NUMBERS YOU CAN DECIDE WHATS BEST FOR YOU . XOXOXOXOXX
My lab guidelines are: LDL 5-40
HDL 39-96
TRIGL. 30-200
TOTAL CHOLEST. IS A COMPILATION OF THE ABOVE
I always get my blood results - when I worked they faxed them to me, I have a folder where I compare numbers,
I hate my doctor because he has no bedside manner. Hoewver, he is not a pill pusher and only gives them when absolutely necessary. So I stay with him. And he gives me all his lipitor samples and I cut them in 1/2. My insurance won't pay for it because its not generic.
All doctors are in a hurry
