Just some thoughts about alternative medicine,
Now i can agree say Honey and cinnamon may be good for a sore throat or peppermint is great for an upset stomach, My problem is the claims of cure's and all sorts of beneficial effects on serious illnesses.
I can remember all those snake oil salesmen with the claims about a substance called leatril made from Apricot stones a so called cure for cancer. Clinics and nursing homes were set up costing thousands of Dollars a day. All these cures turned out to be bogus
When enough resources and money are put into promoting something word of mouth make it almost impossible to get to the truth, and by that time many many people have been fleeced
If I read something in a report I always try to find out who is funding it.These survey's costs heaps of money to run, so who pay;s the saying he who pay the piper comes to mind
As a diabetic I was intrigued to read about the benefits of sugar consumption. It just happened to be funded by the sugar marketing board.
Ask a dentist about sugar and honey and they both cause tooth rot when honey hits the digestive juice it breaks down to the same simple sugars as the white stuff.
I admit to being a cynic on many things. but nothing is more amenable to the fraudsters than health food's and unwarranted claims
Old mother Riley takes a glass of beetroot juice every morning and lives to be a hundred WoW a nice shaped bottle a pic of old granny on it maybe a cat purring away on her lap
just source the beetroot juice ( nearly forgot about that) and watch it fly off the shelves.
I like to peruse the old London newspapers of the Victorian time's and if you could see some of the ads for remedies and cure's it is quite amusing
One was for herbal cigarettes said to build up strength with a picture of a cart horse on the packet The horse was called Hercules and the cigarettes were supposed to be made of Horse sh1t they were best sellers.
Being skeptical about all the claims made by drug companies for their pills and potions,at least these things go through testing procedures
Having said all this I do take a multivitamin so I guess i too am on the Suckers list!

it is a known fact that no over-the-counter supplements are approved or disapproved by the FDA and therefore, they can say whatever they want on the bottle, There's no one to dispute it except the customer that purchases it and then finds out it doesnt work, The plus side for the mfg is that you already purchased it and they made their money.
