Maybe you should start a pie business its suppose to be easy or at least that's what people are always saying with slogans like its as easy as pie. I don't know how that rumor started. I bake and pie is not all that easy to make. You have to get the crust and the filling just right or you won't end up with a good pie. One of my specialties is pumpkin pie. Soda tax what will they think of next. If you ask me they should have taxed soda before they taxed milk.

Here in Ontario almost all the food is taxed. the only things that aren't tax is fresh fruits, veggies and plain meats. If you buy a steak - no tax, but if you buy a steak that had pepper on it - taxed. If you buy a pint of milk you will pay taxes on it, but a gallon of milk has no tax. Rice - no tax, rice-a-roani- taxed. Ontario taxes - 15%

I am originally from Ontario, Sue and i sure remember all the taxes. It is awful. It is so nice here to only pay 5% tax. We dont pay taxes on any foods here in Alberta.

I DID have a pie business when I was in Ontario, Art. I baked all the pies for the little tea time restaurant in Sudbury. I made apple, cherry, blueberry and pumpkin. I did them all from home, all hand made, even the crust. It was a lot of work, but I loved it. I think the most I made at one time was 70 pies... and that was all done with only one oven :)

I have heard that sugar free, no sugar added and full sugar soft drinks all make you get fatter the same way.

The price of illegal drugs is not having a direct relationship which does not reduce how much people do the drug, they just have to rob more, kill more and such and in this case, they will hurt the low income more and for those who are against fruit juices makes those who want to drink them and or sugar based juices decide which they can afford better, the sugar based drink or 100% pure juice so most will drink what the GOVT don't want them to drink and then they will have to cut back on other items which they are determined to buy. I am not sure if I have completed this comment, but surely all of you will have that or I will share another time.

My crust is flakey, melt in your mouth crust, Arlline. People say it is the best they have ever had.I have looked and looked and there just isnt anything around that tis like my homemade crust. Then the filling is awesome.. really full and real apple with brown sugar, cinnamon and a little flour. I put dabs of butter on it to maake the filling even richer.. mmmmm warm pie with ice cream.. really really good, Arline :)

ok enough with the pies Joanne...you are making me want one so badly now...Lori just came back from the store with some SF Ice Cream for me...so I guess I'll just have to settle for that without the pie...about t he tax on Soda...Philadelphia is one of the Cities that are considering the tax...I have cut my intake down to one every other day...so the tax will not affect me...I will just stick to my SF tea...are taxes here right now are 8%...this just went up from 7 last year some time...please give me the recipe for your homemade crust...I would love for Lori to try it out...will talk soon

Plenty of Cinnamon, No sugar added Apple Sauce, No Calorie Sweetener although I can't think of the seasoning which goes hand and glove with cinnamon which is a Vitamin. The high fiber crust on the pie since you want to eat less. Old Fashion Oatmeal along with maybe Pumpkin would help make this better. I think the DARK brown sugar is yummier and if you want to add calories, use regular or lower sugar Molasses, so you don't want to eat as much since the more flavor the better and you will eat less if your into flavor although if your into eating more I can't help. I shared some of the possible answers here and someone can go to the recipe topic and if this email helps, then use what you want to to update it. The most important thing with the crust, Broke is to handle it or roll it as little as possible.. | use a pound of shortening.. not lard, five cups of flour, and mix that all together until grainy. I then take a measureing cup and put an egg in it with a third of a cup of vinegar and the rest water. Mix it all up and pour it into the pie crust. Mix it allup and dont over mix. Take a handful and put it on a floured board and roll until it is big enough tor the pie tin. Dont over roll.
Do the same for the top and fill it flush with filling.

Yes.. it is a pretty rich pie.. that is for sure.. I also make an awesome rhubarb pie and a fresh picked blueberry pie and a fresh picked cherry pie. I also do the odd pumpkin and lemon meragne. ....well, that is what I used to make for tthe restaurant. I am seriouusly thinking of startingg that up again.
