I'm not sure how active this group is or if it's the right place for me to post this, but I felt the need to reach out as I've just recently found out my partner has pedophelic tendencies. I call it that because he is primarily and predominantly attracted to adults, but has realised he does sometimes get sexual feelings around children. Sometimes being the key word.
As mentioned in the title he hasn't offended. He is very mindful of how acting on these desires can cause harm to children, and his relationships with family, friends and us. He also is quite happy with being in a relationship with an adult.
He is working with someone right now to help with exploring the nature of the attraction, and how to continue preventing the action (of harming children).
I'm not even sure if you'd call this full on Pedophelia? There is still a lot about this I don't know and I'd love some help with pointing me in the direction where I can find support and tools to navigate this, on my own but also with my partner.
I love him, want to continue being this relationship as I don't see this defining who he is. Part of him yes, but not his entirety. I also wish to support his journey of understanding this with compassion and kindness.
But I am a product of my society, where Pedophelia is demonised rather than researched in grounded, compassionate and mindful ways. There is fear and confusion and some anxiety. It has also caused some distance between us sexually and physically as I process how all of this is landing for me.
