Dating after Divorce Community Group
After divorce it's hard to jump back into the dating scene. This group will help support each other as we get back out there in the dating world.

The other day someone mentioned P.O.F (Plenty of Fish)as a potential on-line dating site. So I registered and did a search of women in my local area. I have to say, there were some strange women on that site. I'm not sure if it's just my local area or if it's common for all areas of the country. I decided that this may not be the place I want to look for a person to date.
Have any of you ever checked out this site and if so what are your thoughts?

Strange people abound everywhere!! But, I was on POF for a while. met some wonderful people! And some really strange ones-but what was important was that I was meeting people, getting out, and having fun!!!

Never checked it out but my friend here in the UK is a member and she says they are organising a local singles night soon. It sounds like fun. Perhaps you should see if they are organising any social gatherings near you. There wont be as much pressure that way and if you dont like what you see, you dont have to stay.

I agree with AloneinUtah. There are some strange ones, but I also met some very cool people on there.

I have never been on Plenty of Fish.....is this one of the sites that is free?? It would seem to me that the sites that are free you are more likely to find the weirdos. I think that the people who are really serious about finding someone would be willing to pay for a site like eHarmony or Match.com.

I've been on POF...met some really nice people, and a few strange ones...It's just like any other site. I was on Match, and I met the same types. In fact, some of the Match people were also on POF. So, I'll just say; no matter how you date, be sure to be safe. Keep your personal information to yourself, until you feel really comfortable in sharing...don't rush and don't be pressured to share more than you feel ready for. Online dating is the new "mixer"...have fun, but be as selective as you would be "in person", that's all!

The cool thing about POF is you can block anyone if you don't want them to see, or talk to you, plus there are more people than in any other site. I actually liked Match.com better because it helped me sort through the profiles and literally match me to potential dates.
