I've had my cat since he was 2 weeks old (stray cat, mommy died) He's like my child. He has a billion toys, treats, and his own room. I get on my hands and knees and crawl around the floor and play with him... Well for the past month around 10:30 every night he started CHASING me around the house attacking my ankles. He'll hide around corners and pounce on my feet... It's extremely cute....but he's 14 pounds, and almost a year old, he's too big to play like that anymore, it hurts! and now he has started doing it ALLLLLL day long.. lol is there anything I can to do stop him? I might be getting another cat soon, but if I don't, I don't know what else to do for him. Any advice?(:

I so hope someone has answers for you as I've been asking the question on how to get a cat to stop biting since I first joined. Mine just turned 3 yrs. this month and has only now stopped about 90% of his biting. (can't understand why he was a biter since I've had him since he was only 4 days old and hand raised, bottle fed him) I wish you luck and hopefully he'll stop his unwanted behavior soon)

Squirt bottles work great to break cats of bad habits. My 8 month old rescue was a wild one for many months . He has now settled down drastically thanks to the squirt bottle. Also helps that he has a 5 month old pit pup to roughhouse with but he has quit attacking me when I walk or in my sleep

@Youaremy......... Weiderk has a point. I have heard that the squirt bottle works on most cats (not mine...he'd sit there licking it off...lol) It might work on yours. Other things I was told to try: a container with things in it to throw near (not at) him to startle him, put something (non toxic) on your legs or wherever he bites you.
Just trying to throw some things out there that might work on your cat. Nothinig worked on mine. he just eventually stopped biting. Was yours a feral kitty before you got him? I was told by the vet that most feral, hand raised, bottle fed kitties are biters and males can be worse. I hope you have now found something that works!

I have a kitty that just turned 1 and likes to play like that also. She will chase me down the hall and bite on the back of my pants. Sometimes she'll jump past me while I reach the bed and give me a pat on the butt as she runs past. She stops if I tell her no.

It can be annoying though and a couple of times when she snagged me I thought I was going to fall.

I agree about squirt bottle; and FYI, you may be able to do it effectively, without actually spraying The Cat.
For my dog for example, I used it to break him of unwanted barking, and just spraying next to his face, worked. The thing is , to break their thought process /get their attention.
but if my way does not work , spray the little bugger, it won't hurt. My hubby thinks I am "mean" for doing this. It's not mean. :)
