My one cat reacts to my severe migraines and when I go to bed, he wraps around my head. He has that long fur, smells good, and his purring and vibration on my head feels great.

I asked a Purina Vet expert one time and she said that animals have such intense and refined senses, particularly cats. She has heard of animals reacting to pain and going to the owner who has the pain.

Here is an article about a cat who knows in advance of patients dying and goes to them. It discusses about animals with illness and I believe their incredible senses really help with all this.

I forgot to mention I have PTSD and get PTSD flashbacks that put me way back in time and I'm in severe pain when there. Both of my cats immediately get to me and start patting my hands with their paws and lightly meowing to help bring me out of it. They are registered service animals and help so much.

The warmth of their fur and body heat might help ease your symptoms.Having them there might help you to relax some.It does not sound crazy to me.

My dogs help me tremendously. I know there have been studies validating that petting your dog helps lower blood pressure. Because I am disabled (I have rheumatoid arthritis) I am home a lot. They are my constant companions. They are always available for walking, cuddling, napping, and blood pressure lowering!

Annie, I think you're right and the warmth of their fur and body heat help considerably. I just wonder if with pain, or fever that we give out an aura that animals can see or that it is a highly refined sense that they have and they sense pain and fever.

@astimegoesby When I was 3 I had a cat who slept like that every night, I loved it so much I even have a cat purr to my relaxation app. I've always had migraines & really bad PMS & ever since I can remember they have always come when I was hurt, sad, etc. Animals are like little furry angels. Except spiders. I freaking hate spiders lol.

Hi pcdmom: I laughed because I freaking hate spiders too!!!! When I tell people about how my one cat will sleep wrapped around me when I have migraines, people have never heard of that and the neurologist is amazed. I've had dogs and cats throughout my life and they always were there to help with pain or illness. I always call them blessings and they are furry angels. In fact I have some cat angels in my shelves in the living room. Take care.

I forgot to mention, a man will sit in the covered sitting area here when the weather is nice and have his African Gray Parrot on his shoulder. The parrot and him are just true family. The parrot is gray with some beautiful pink.

When I'm usually sick, my cat always comes and lays down on my bed - and always sleeps there for as long as I'm there. If I'm not sick. My cat NEVER sleeps on my bed.
