We have 6 also:
Wally - Old man - Had him 12 years, prolly a year old when we got him. We sometimes call hm the "Crazy Uncle:)
Murphy - about 3 years in June. Feral cat, born to a mother at my work..snagged him pretty young. Vet wouldn't "fix" him until he was 8 months old........at 6 months "HE" was pregnant.....we kept all 4 kittens:)
Kids: Born April Fools day 2011 (how appropriate for a Male mommy - LOL)
Big Bull - smokey gray - struts around like King of forest
Baby - also smokey gray - smaller than Big Bull - but almost identical in appearance
Puff - don't know where her daddy came from. She almost looks Persian, big fat ball of fluff..........hence the name Puff......but as a young kitten would take cig's out of ashtray and play with them.............guess she was living up to her name. Has now given up smoking.......LOL
Mr Big - He is the "Thinker"....first one out of the birth box...........always seems to analyze things.
All have been "fixed"....no more kitties for us..................and most days they are a pleasure to have around.........most days........LOL
There are pictures in my profile (open).............
also noticed recently one of my outdoor ones is showing his age. is that normal. he will be ten in may. or is it that i should feed him separate at age ten? as i have seen that before and was at a loss as to what to do. no matter where i go to feed him, one of the young outdoor cats, tora dora, swats at him (closed paw) when he tries to eat. he is not skinny, but i know the pecking order changes once they are old. its amazing because even a year ago, he was pretty much in charge. xxoo
To 38lbs: As cats get older like by ten you probally should feed him a senior diet food. You might have to feed hime seperately away from the other cats.
We also adopted a de-clawed shelter cat who is the love of our life. I cannot imagine being without a cat.
Thank you for sharing your stories.
We did have 8 cats until about a year ago...
But then our dear FaFla: 22+ Himalayan kitty passed (we had to take her in...she was having severe seizures). Then, out of the blue, my baby boy Tom, (18 years old, but so healthy!) became mortally ill and went downhill quickly. We ended up having to take him in, as well.
And just less than a week ago, our dear little Remi cat (14 years old) finally succumbed to the cancer. He, at least, was able to die naturally and peacefully at home with his family.
That leaves us, however, with 5 more BEUATIFUL kittys! ...
The Great Brandini: 18 years old, tabby, a real alpha cat! He is SO full of fun and mischief!
Oreo: 18 years old. Our beautiful little Mama cat. She is definitely the Queen! She is elderly now, but she still keeps everyone in their place!
Moester: 16 years old. He is a tuxedo cat. He is also our perpetual kitten even though he is one of our biggest cats! He has NO idea that he is all grown up!
Ben-Her: 14 years old. Black cat. She is the princess. Oreo's daughter and fully trained by her to take over the position of Queen when that time comes.
Moses: 14 years old. Black cat. We always say that the only thing this scarrdy cat ever parted was the dust bunnies under the bed! He is afraid of EVERYTHING!!!! We have him in our bedroom and he lives in a special cat condo so that we can actually pet him, feed him...see him!
Each of these wonderful little souls has added so very much to our lives! They have blessed us incredibly in so many ways! God certainly knew what He was doing when He sent them to us!
Last year, only three remained and two of them fell ill and had to be put down. One was 18 years old and the other one was 12 years old.
I've been too sad to adopt any more cats since this happened.
I have one left now that I love very much and she is about seven years old that I got from the animal shelter. She is a very loving cat.
If I had my way, I'd have six cats too as I love cats! :)
