Pets do so much for us, and in return, we love them just as we love a family member. This month, DailyStrength celebrates our animal friends and the many health benefits they bring.
When we lived in a heavily infested neighborhood, we had to spray the yard, vacuum daily, and use Frontline spray as well as prescription flea growth regulator (Program) pills to keep the fleas off.
Where we currently live we have nut trees in the yard which seems to inhibit outdoor fleas, and we have our dogs on Trifexis for heartworms (it also inhibits fleas) with the backup of using a topical(Sentry, etc) if we see any fleas (we also have cats.)
So far this has worked well, which is good because two of our animals have serious flea allergies. Hope this helps!
In desperation, when I lived in the middle of 300 acres, I lined the outside of my house with moth balls. I also put them inside of my house under all of the furniture until I got control of the fleas & tick. After that I kept the moth balls outside around the house, it helped. Plus I sprayed the dogs everytime they went out and came in. I don't know where you life so these are just a few thoughts for you.
