It's been about a year and a half now. I was driving down a forest trail in my 4x4 and something 30 feet into the woods caught my eye. What the hell is that?? I stoped the truck and carefully went to take a look. OMG. I had seen pictures of animals like this, but never layed eyes on one. He had all his ribs showing and wanted to run from me but couldn't even stand up. a pitbull... all head and no body. Well went back to truck. Had a bottle of water and a bag of chex mix. Slowly ... I made my way back to "slim", that's his name now. Talked to him for about 15 mins, and prayed he didn't bite me as I gave him some water. ( I had no health ins @ the time.) He drank a little, choked a little but held most down, O.K. ... now the Chex mix..( it's all I had.) He ate some but threw it back up. More water. Go back to truck... sat a few and put it into gear... but I couldn't take my foot off the break. I don't and can't take care of a dog... but he wont survive the night. Out of the truck now. I grab a blanket. Go back and talk to him some more. Don't bite me Slim, as I layed the blanket gown and slid him on to it. Got him to the truck and put him on the floorboard. He never objected in any way. Drove the 30 min. home and got him into the garage. Long story short... After 2-3 days of spoon feeding , he started to hold it down. After a week, we let him into the back yard. After almost another week he did his first bark. Never even a wimper till WOOF. Wow ... he has a voice!! Slim is now his correct weight and has all his shots. Tried to find him a good home for three months. Might as well keep him, we concluded. Winters are hard up here. Never wanted an inside dog but... He now sleeps at the foot of my bed. He is very thankfull and has NEVER showed any aggression. Plays with the grandkids all the time. Slim is now part of our family.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....
