I tried to take a nap today. It did not go well. I went and laid down in the bedroom, bringing Bucky the Rough Coated Collie and Misha the Great Pyrenees in with me. This keeps Misha from destroying the living room while I am sleeping.

We did our normal shuffle. Both dogs got on my side of the bed and did not budge until each of them got their snuggles. I finally got to lay down. As I laid down, Bucky went to the window and looked out... and saw the wild kittens. This caused him to bark loudly for a good ten minutes. I managed to call him back onto the bed only for Misha to go look out the window. She quietly 'bruffed' at the kittens for several minutes while I did my best to calm down Bucky.

Then the neighbors across the street got home. We live in a rural ranching area, so then hearing target practice with a pistol was actually nothing to worry about, but there was no convincing the dog of this. They went ballistic!!!

It took about half an hour for me to get the dogs to leave the window and come back over to me on the bed. I took Misha by the choke chain and Bucky by his martingale collar and held them both on the bed. They won't bark on the bed as I will kill them for that. It did not stop the growls and bruffing.

so that was how I got to take my nap... with a dog collar grasped firmly in each hand. It was NOT restful at all.
