Next friday 15/8/08 would be Dad's 65th birthday it's nearly 5 months since he had to leave us.At this time i'm finding things very hard,Worrying about Mum and the every day feelings of not having my Dad here.We are going to the crem to take Dad some flowers and i will get a card and put it in Dad's special box.I suppose once this day is over i will try to get on until the next first comes along.
Just roll with it. Experience the emotion, don't stuff it. Everything for me ususally comes the day after the event. I tend to get through it on the actual day then the next day I buckle. So prepare for it. Let yourself have a "stay at home with movies, chocolate and a blanket day". Just one day to get yourself centered again. Then its back to business, until the next "1st" comes along. Big hug, Marge
Today and tomorrow are the 1st Anniversary of Daddy's passing. We have had all the first. You just have to trust in God and ask for strength to get yo u through. I think me worrying about my mom is the worst for me because she hasn't found her New Normal and I don't expect her to do that. Just have faith.
My Dad's birthday was the last day I saw him alive. He died two weeks later. The first birthday after he died was incredibly painful. All the firsts are really hard. It's actually a relief when your through it all. It becomes a little easier after that.
I found that the firsts were a blur of agony for me. I can't tell you how I got through them, but i did.
Now its the second year and my Dad's birthday is coming up on the 30th Aug. I think this year I will just make a phone call to Mum and do what I do best, love my Dad with all my heart and keep talking to him.
i am having the same problem, my dad's birthday is on 8/28 and it's been 6 months. He would have been 53. its really hard, so i know how you feel and i am with you.
