I know ITP is a common pre-cursor to CVID - I had it many many years ago and had my spleen removed (which I have since learned we should NOT have done if you have CVID). What part of the country are you in? Valley Fever is rampant here in this part of CA and in parts of AZ. Have they looked at your lungs? I learned at the Immune Deficiency Conference that all cvid'ers should have AT LEAST one ct scan to check for lung issues. When I was dx with my lung disease my ONLY symptoms were fatigue, low grade fevers (my bloodwork was normal)...I had a ton of autoimmune going on with it. Keep pushing your docs :) You know your body more than anyone ((hugs))

Ive had 2 cat scans this year, the first one was in March and only showed enlarged lymph nodes, and the second 1 I just had done a few weeks ago. The hardest part is not knowing whats going on

Like Kelli, I also have had my bouts with ITP. Remember, our blood levels fluctuate all the time, and even if there is an issue, there is so much they can do to get you through it. If your platelets are low, you might want to avoid excessive use of foods and all those things that further lower them, such as: chocolate, grape juice, alcohol, garlic, fish oil, aspirin, ibuprofen, swimming in chlorine pools, and certain other supplements. Work with your doctor closely on these issues. All will be well!

I've been anemic two or three separate times (the worst being the last 6 months) and my wbc are all over the place. My platelets also fluctuation, mostly to too high because of my heart problems, but they were low when I was a baby/toddler. Good luck!!!

My wonky blood work is the reason my PCP sent me to the hematologist who put me on IV iron for 8 sessions. My white cells are high though, while my red cells and platelets are low. After the iron infusions my iron levels were very high of course, then gradually dropped back down again.

After a year of IVIG treatments my iron numbers are starting to come up. I wonder if the anemia is related to the CVID?

I asked about this at my last hematology appt. but it was a new doctor who had no idea. Frustrating - I waited a year to see this doctor again - and they send me to someone new who is from another country. This is starting to happen more and more at my HMO.

I am not familiar with ITP - how do they check for that? I do partake of chocolate a lot, and use ibuprophen and excedrin quite often. The fish oil capsule I have stopped because of the nasty burping and heartburn.

Yes! I have had ITP for 40 years. Also very low WBC and B and T cell issues. Diagnosed w/ CVID a little over a yr. ago. Wish I could find a way to address the ITP as right now, that is more of an issue than he CVID.
