Now comes the challenge of perfecting learning these three compositions. Fortunately I have Barber’s Adagio etched on my heart and soul.
When I first learned to play it was the Scottish fiddle, playing sometimes in my dad’s Blue Grass band. I had learned by ear and observation. So I am so hoping that my childhood way of learning by ear will aid me in this endeavor until I can begin my lessons again.

The first true concert I ever went to was Arlo Guthrie. When we lived in Santa Monica we’d go to the huge blues festivals with my dad.
Still I’m more a blues girl than blue grass. One of the happiest moments of my life and of my memories is going with my dad to see BB King.
My love of music is all over the place but I was raised on blues, folk/blue grass, Pat Benatar, and classical music. My father maternal grandfather was part Scottish, hence learning to fiddle as soon as I could stand and hold the bow and family fiddle.
I always wanted to learn true violin though, to play those haunting classical melodies that filled my head with magical dreams as a child. It wasn’t until I began taking lessons I realized how vastly different it is to play a fiddle vs a violin.

Perfectionist I am, they seem horrible messy but a ballpoint pen isn’t the best medium to write out sheet music, lol. I redid it in fine point pencil which has made it so much easier to read.
