My husband has been on Plavix for 2 years. It works well as a blood thinner/anticoagulant. It is given to help prevent future heart attacks. The only down side is increased bruising and bleeding should you happen to cut yourself!!

I am taking Plavix . So far I have run nails through my foot twice (once while bare foot the other wearing sandals) also cut my hand with a jigsaw and the end result was very little bleeding but more than before Plavix , in which I rarely if ever bled even with the worst cuts. I clot quickly even now .

I am on Plavix to help my stents stay clear. It has caused me to become even colder natured, and to bruise very easily. I am also on 325mg aspirin to help too.

I have a question .Colder Natured ? Side effect ? Lately I've been diagnosed with Urea level of 8.3 Triglycerides 5.95 (5.88 just after release from hospital) and 0.62 HDL (0.87) just after release from hospital ) Sooooooo obviously I am slightly worse than just after the MI and stents, and find myself a little colder natured too , especially considering that I don't know what 8.3 blood urea means other than missing liver enzyme problems which I learned from the internet and have yet to hear a doctor explain it to me .

Asfar as I know it is working great. I do bruise a lot and very easily which I hate.

I've been on Plavix since May 14 when they placed my stent. I bruise easier, but other than that...no problems.

I have been taking Plavix since my stents were placed. I expect to stay on Plavix until for a year. From what I read online, it is a good idea to stay on Plavix for at least a year. I do not have any noticable side effects. I do bruise easier than before, but that doesn't concern me too much. I checked with my doctor before having my teeth cleaned because the dentist wanted to stop the plavix. My doctor said no and they cleaned my teeth anyway.

I had a medicated stent inserted 01/25/09. 99% blockage.I was told afterward that I also had an 80% blockage and would need another stent in 90days. I was on Plavix, Atenolol,Lipitor,and 325mg bayer aspirin and patches to quit smoking. I ripped the patches off and quit cold turkey. I've used alternative medicine for the last 35yrs. Not so much as a headache in my adult life. The Plavix made me nuts! The Cardiologist said I would be on Plavix for the rest of my life. I told him that was insane , however I followed his advice and continued on with it.In June of this year I went back to have the second stent put in and after 3hrs they told me that they did'nt put the stent in but now I need a Quintuple bypass. I refused and told him what I really need is a Dr. who knows what he's talking about.I literally ran him out of my room.My wife was frantic to say the least. About an hour later the head surgeon came in and said he understood how I felt and to sleep on it and he would call me at 8am the next morning to get my answer and in the mean time he would reserve the Operating room for noon the next day. Then came the turning point. He said"I understand you're a strong believer" He then said "The hands of the Lord will be working through me!" He also told me that if I went through the surgery he would take me off of the Plavix for good. He reached over and gave me a big hug and said he understood my greif and anxiety as well as my wife's. He's done thousands of this type of surgery and has been very succesful. From one Doug to another I recommend #1 Plenty of exercise. #2 Stay away from negative material like Medical tv series like todays ER and Grays Anatomy. and many others that have become so graphic. I'm not a woose,35yrs martial and mixed martial arts. Running and jogging 6miles pr. day for years. This is not a fight anyone can prepare for. Just stay positive and stay away from the negative.

I had 5x bypass surgery in April 2003. I was put on Plavix at that time. In May 2003 I suffered a heart attack because two of the bypasses failed and reclogged. I was also having problems in my legs which were 100% (right leg) and 95% (left leg) blocked. I had 2 stents put in my legs. These were the old type without drugs in them. In 2004 I had an angina attack and ended up with 3 more stents in my heart. These were the new type with the drugs in them. One of my primary doctors at the VA wanted to stop my Plavix. He said something about being on them too long and that there were side effects. My cardiologist told me that so long as I suffered from vascular cardio disease I would be on Plavix (like for rest of my life).

Now Plavix seems to be working but like any drug for the heart, diet and exercise are necessary. I am still alive and still kicking.

At wigs.com you can watch videos of a person wearing the wig. What I really dislike about wigs is I find them itchy - but I was wearing the synthetic ones. Maybe human hair is better? Also, another thing I really dislike is how THICK the hair is on them. They often look fake due to that. I have a small head and my hair was thick when I was younger but Not as thick as the wigs you see. But you could take it to a hairdresser to be thinned out and styled. Kanekolon fiber is the best for synthetic hair. There are wig products you need to buy too, like shampoo, conditioner, styling cream or spray, and hairspray. Regular products would destroy the wig. There is also a product you spray in to add shine and help the wig last longer. I found that wearing one every day wore the synthetic ones out quickly. After a few months they did not look so good any more. Monofilament is the best kind, which has a see through area where your scalp shows through, so it looks like you have a part in your hair. Right now I have a real human hair hairpiece and like it so much better. Honeycomb - one you weave in with your natural hair, although I don't have enough hair to weave through right now. So I just tie a scarf headband around it and put a few hair clips in to hold it on. Not near as confining as a wig.
