It has been a while since I have checked in with the group as I have been ill.
I would appreciate knowing how many have been diagnosed with A1T1. I was diagnosed on the first of this month and will be going in for Geneotyping shortly.

I think I saw that someone does have A1T1 on the main Board. You need to ask there also.
My understanding is that there is no cure. they can attempt to slow the progression by supplementing the lacking enzyme trypsin. However they cannot undo the damage done.
My Mother, Father, Maternal Grandmother all died of lung disease early, prior to sixty. I watched it hit them hard in their 50's. It is genetic and they believe Co-dominant in my case. I will have the genotyping facts soon enough.
The hardest part was having to tell my son and daughter that they needed to be tested.
