I've been a liar since I was a child. Its ruined relationship, after relationship. My web of lies came crashing down after my fiance called my mother. She first called me out a little over a year ago, and she thought I spilled my guts with everything. I did tell her the truth with everything she was asking about, but left out a whole bunch of things. I don't find it hard to be truthful with her since the year ago incident, I mean, I wasn't making other things up. But, the damage is done. She knows everything now. I feel horrible, I'm a grown man, and have to hide in the bathroom at work to cry. For a period of time, I sought a professional therapist and that helped. My parents noticed a big change. They thought I was better. I was transferred for work, and stopped seeing a therapist. That was a mistake. Im once again in therapy, and its helping even after only three sessions. My lying has crushed those closest to me. My actions are selfish. I don't lie to manipulate, or get my way, I lie to look better in peoples eyes, or to hide the truth about things such as finances. I've never cheated on her. The weird thing is, like today at work, with the vow I told myself to never lie again in mind, I thought about everything I said while talking with people, and I didn't lie once all day. I just slowed the conversation down, and gave truthful answers, or conversations. My fiance, for the first time in my life, I'm in love with another person. She loves me back. She's completely devastated, and rightfully so. I don't know how to fix us, but I have to fix myself. I have to no matter what. Enough is enough is enough.  I can't believe that all these years of lying, and deceit, and I just thought about what I was saying, and it was pretty easy. She is beside herself of what to do. I see the hurt. She does not deserve any of this. She is the best person I know. I have lied about things that don't even matter. The shame and guilt is unbearable. The information online in regards to compulsive lying is there, but there has to be success stories out there right? I see a lot of people bashing liars, and rightfully so, but I would love to read a story about a compulsive liar overcoming their problem, and salvaging their relationship.
